Linen Scarf, crafted from Italian-spun linen on antique Ruti looms at Mungo Mill.

Each scarf is unique, thanks to the random loading of pirns on the shuttle looms, creating a one-of-a-kind mix of colours in the weft. The true selvedge and short eyelash fringe add a distinctive touch.

Made from breathable, durable linen, perfect year-round, with natural texture that improves with wear. Woven in small batches to minimize waste, using up the last remaining yarns from previous runs.

Mungo's linen yarn is sourced from Linificio e Canapificio Nazionale – a company based in Bergamo, Italy, that has been in the business of spinning top-quality linen yarn since 1873. As an OEKO-TEX-certified producer, in LCN we found an ethos that matched our own – a commitment to exceptional quality and sustainable production.

  • About The Brand

    The story begins with just two old antique looms that Master Weaver Stuart Holding came into possession of. He used these looms to weave limited runs of beautiful homeware textiles from what he called his ‘working weaving museum’ – an old barn where passersby could watch him work. 

    Today, guided by a mission "to create heirloom-quality woven goods with integrity in an open and transparent manner", the Mungo team operate South Africa’s first GOTS-certified textile weaving mill on the grounds of Old Nick Village, near Stuart’s original barn, where the entire mill is open to the public. Mungo Textiles also gives back 1% of their annual turnover to a number of social & environmental initiatives via their purpose-built MOVE programme.
