Vrou (n.) Fr-o: The Afrikaans word for a woman or wife.
Vrou-Vrou (adj.) Fr-o Fr-o: A play on the word ‘frou frou’ meaning heavenly ornamental and elaborate or (n.) a rustling sound of fabric.

The Vrou-Vrou is a bold statement in textile design. This full-size blanket is woven with a classic waffle weave with a unique pocket-like structure. Woven with 9 different colours in the warp, the Vrou adds ripples of warmth and texture to your bedroom or sofa. Perfect as both a light summer blanket or an extra layer in winter.

    • About The Brand

      The story begins with just two old antique looms that Master Weaver Stuart Holding came into possession of. He used these looms to weave limited runs of beautiful homeware textiles from what he called his ‘working weaving museum’ – an old barn where passersby could watch him work. 

      Today, guided by a mission "to create heirloom-quality woven goods with integrity in an open and transparent manner", the Mungo team operate South Africa’s first GOTS-certified textile weaving mill on the grounds of Old Nick Village, near Stuart’s original barn, where the entire mill is open to the public. Mungo Textiles also gives back 1% of their annual turnover to a number of social & environmental initiatives via their purpose-built MOVE programme.
