We absolutely adore Ahimsa’s accessories. Beautifully designed and lovingly constructed, every piece is made from biodegradable or sustainable materials, and packaged using 100% recycled products.

This bag has zips all over the shop, two roomy places to store your prized possessions and the option to open the base of the bag (via zip) to reveal a Piñatex gusset, giving you twice the room for activities.

The outside of the Ziplock Foldover Handbag is made of 100% Piñatex (made from pineapple leather), while the inner lining boasts 100% Ecoprene.

We'll let Blackstreet and Dr Dre take this one...* "I like the way you work it. Yo ZIPpity, I got to bag it up."

Values

ETHICAL
The Ahimsa Collective is a luxury accessories label, intent on producing products with no harm. They only ever work with certified Ethical and Sustainable suppliers. Their products are produced in a factory in the Peoples Republic of China. This factory has ISO certifications and is registered with Sedex.
The factory owner shares their values and ethos and they visit the factory twice a year to ensure the conditions are maintained to high AC standards. Regardless of their suppliers and partners, they undertake ongoing audits to ensure no changes have occurred within their social responsibility requirements.

GIVES BACK
The Ahimsa Collective donate $5 from the sale of every The Ahimsa Collective item to carefully chosen local Australian charity foundations who are making positive changes to our planet via their Social Enterprise component? Currently, the team at Ahimsa are supporting Australia's first-ever Seaweed Permaculture platform, built just off the coast of Tasmania.

SUSTAINABLE & UPCYCLED
Every item sold by The Ahimsa Collective is carefully crafted using sustainable or recyclable materials. From Piñatex (made from pineapple fibres) to Ecoprene (made of recycled carpets and post-consumer clothing) to washable paper, every element has been chosen based on its impact on the planet. Their aim to not only reduce the fashion industry’s footprint but attempt to reverse it. Washable paper is similarly wonderful, being sustainable, biodegradable and eco-friendly. Ahimsa’s material is OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 and FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified, making it the perfect alternative to leather.

MINIMAL WASTE
Following their no-waste ethos all the way through to delivery of your new items, all materials used in the packaging of The Ahimsa Collective goods produce minimal waste. Internal material and boxes are made from 100% Recycled material and are printed using soy-based inks. Boxes are then placed into a custom branded The Ahimsa Collective biodegradable and compostable ‘plastic’ mailer. Tissue used is acid-free, FSC certified and used is soy-based. For every tissue paper order they place, their partner plants trees in areas of need.

VEGAN
This bag is a PETA-Approved Vegan product, meaning during the production and creation of this product, there is no animal suffering in any capacity.

Care

Just like any other material (but better obviously) The Ahimsa Collective's materials need some love and care as well. Below are a few tips and tricks on keeping your new The Ahimsa Collective item looking as chic A.F. as the first day it wrapped around your arm.

DAY-TO-DAY WEAR
As Piñatex is a natural material, it will wear and age based on how you use it, becoming your own unique item.
To help reduce any unwanted wear, keep your item in its cloth bag whenever it's not slung over your arm. It's best to keep it in a nice spot out of direct sun and away from water/moisture and perfumes.

EVER AFTER
Ongoing treatment of your Piñatex item is highly recommended, based on how often you use it will depend on how often you need to wax it.
A good sign is when you see the natural fibres of Piñatex showing, give them a good wax down. This is a natural effect of the Piñatex material so don't be alarmed - your item is still as strong as the first day you wrapped it in your arms.
If you have a black Piñatex item, then this will likely be more obvious than the metallic Piñatex products. The Ahimsa Collective's metallic items are slightly different so there is no need to wax them.
The Ahimsa Collective treat their own products with eco-friendly boot polish. Using small spot treatments on only those areas that need it. You might also like to apply a small [and we mean small] amount of PawPaw cream to the handles, every now and then, to keep them looking fresh.
Remember, Piñatex is a plant - so it needs to be treated like your indoor plant friends.
