Made from ECONYL®, the Stand Strong Leggings are Jasmine Alexa's first (and not the last) leggings to be made from pre and post industrial waste such as discarded fishing nets and used carpets. Instead of being disposed of in landfill, they are recovered, regenerated and transformed into beautiful performance fabric.

Do not be fooled though, these leggings are superior boasting durability, full opacity, excellent shape retention, UV protection, pilling resistance, breathable and so soft they feel like a second skin. Jasmine Alexa are so proud of these leggings and they not only look great but they are great for the environment. It’s a win-win!

As a company that is proudly committed to offering sustainable choices to its customers, every item in their collection is produced using sustainable, recycled and organic fabrics. Currently, the majority of their performance garments are made from revolutionary ECONYL® regenerated nylon, which is made using rescued nylon from landfills and oceans. They have also recently incorporated organic cotton into their range which, compared to conventional cotton, has only a quarter of the environmental impact and a 60% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.

Except for the garments made overseas in WRAP-accredited factories, all of Jasmine Alexa’s clothes are made in Melbourne, helping support the local economy and reducing the impact of plastics and packaging waste.

That’s why they are committed to implementing sustainable and ethical practices across the business in order to reduce their impact on the environment and its people. 

In full transparency, there are some garments that they sadly cannot make locally due to the lack of specific machinery required to make those garments. In these instances, they work with only WRAP accredited factories.

MINIMAL WASTE
Currently, the majority of Jasmine Alexa's performance garments are made from revolutionary ECONYL® regenerated nylon, with the aim to have 100% of their performance garments made from ECONYL® by 2021.
The ECONYL® Regeneration System starts with rescuing nylon from landfills and oceans all over the world, including discarded fishing nets and used carpets. That waste is then sorted and cleaned to recover all of the nylon possible. Through a radical regeneration and purification process, the nylon waste is recycled right back to its original purity. That means ECONYL® regenerated nylon is exactly the same as virgin nylon and has the potential to be recycled infinitely, without ever losing its quality. The goal is that once all products containing ECONYL® are no longer useful to customers, they can go back into step one of the Regeneration System.
