SUSTAINABLE | MINIMAL WASTE | ARTISAN
For Josh from Greenhouse Co, plants are the perfect gift. A sign that you trust that person with something living, and want to gift something that will grow with them. But most importantly, it’s an easy option when you don’t remember their shirt size!
A striking hand-made ceramic piece. This pot is made with a simple yet elegant white glaze by the amazingly talented Jenn Johnstone of Jenn Johnstone Ceramics.
It comes complete with a Sinningia Leucotricha, a weird and wonderful bulb native to Brazil. It grows in the wild on rocky cliff faces and is often found amongst ferns and species of jungle cacti.
It has arguably the most beautiful foliage with leaves that are covered in silvery-white velvety hairs that you just want to caress. These beautiful leaves are produced on white furry stems that sprout from its caudex (water-storing bulb).
**NOTE: Currently only able to ship to Sydney and the Central Coast of NSW, Australia
Sinningia Leucotricha Pre-Potted Mini Pot Plant produces red to orange tubular flowers that are pollinated by Hummingbirds in the wild (but probably not in your home).
About the Pot
A striking hand-made ceramic piece. This pot is made with a simple yet elegant white glaze. This pot has been high-fired to ensure it is extremely durable. These planters have drainage holes and come with a matching coaster (not saucer) to maintain the clean lines of this pot. The bottom of the coaster has been sanded smooth to ensure it won't scratch your furniture.

Please do not repot your plant until you are certain you want to keep it. Greenhouse Co cannot accept returns for plants removed from the plastic pot it arrived in. Thankfully, almost all their plants are immediately loved by their owners and they have had zero returns to date.
Greenhouse Co is all about:
Helping you transform your space with beautiful plants and ceramics;
Encouraging a passion for plants by helping you to care for and be successful with your plants – they don’t want you to buy more because you killed the last lot, they want you to buy more because you love them!
They are also passionate about collaborating with other small businesses! That's why they offer a selection of beautiful ceramic pots made by in collaboration with local pottery artists. Similar to the plants themselves, each piece is different and unique, and that makes them beautiful and a perfect medium for indoor plants.
SUSTAINABLE & MINIMAL WASTE
Sustainability and minimising waste are important to Greenhouse Co - which is why they have designed fully recycle-able, plastic free packaging. Each plant is delivered in a reusable plastic pot (so that it can be easily lifted out for watering and rehomed when it grows) and recyclable packaging, including coir fibre (an already-recycled product that is 100% compostable) and calico bags.
These beautiful plants like regular watering, like once or more per week throughout the growing season (whilst they are producing leaves). When watering make sure that you water the soil only and not the plant as they can be prone to fungal infection because of their beautiful furry foliage.
Like many caudex plants these lovely ladies have a dormancy period through winter where the stems will wither and die back. During this time you can cut off the dead stems and occasionally mist the surface of the soil to prevent the caudex from drying out to much. Resist the urge to water properly until you start to see new shoots arising from the caudex.
An easy plant to care for, it likes bright indirect light but will tolerate more shade. It is happy in a humid spot but will also do well in less humid positions.
At present these plants are approximately 10cm tall with a 2-3cm caudex. They are a moderately slow grower and remain happy in their ceramic pot for a number of years, eventually they will have to be repotted though as the caudex will outgrow the pot. Mature plants 20+ years old can reach a caudex size of up to 30cm across and will throw up many stems making them truly spectacular specimens.
