Is Silicone biodegradable?
No. But it can be easily recycled. Silicone products can be quickly broken down by specialised recycling companies and repurposed into things like oil for industrial lubricants and mulch for playgrounds. Check with your local council to see if they have a silicone recycling system in place.
Why is silicone is a better alternative to plastic?
Silicone is a great alternative to plastic because it is reusable, washable and non-toxic. It’s also a much better option for the environment. These factors all make buying silicone products a smart move when it comes to protecting the health of you and your family, plus the planet too.
About The Brand
In 2017, Emily and Fred Carlstrom, two self-confessed partners in crime, identified a need for reusable alternatives to single-use plastics. They wanted things that were beautifully designed, effortlessly functional, and reasonably priced, while also taking care to preserve our natural reserve. And so, Kappi was born.
Since then, they have created a range of products that make it easier to replace everyday single-use plastics with affordable, functionally designed and stylish alternatives.
Kappi are passionate about spreading the zero-waste message. They've created the products you need to help minimise everyday waste!

Kappi's products are made from a few carefully hand-selected manufacturers in China. Emphasis has been made to ensure their manufacturers satisfy industry regulations and that employees are treated ethically.
Their bamboo is sourced from plantations in China that adhere to sustainable farming practices. They've ensured that their bamboo is not sourced from areas that have destroyed natural forests in order to harvest bamboo. Since their bamboo is sourced from managed plantations, they have ensured that they are not competing with animals that rely on bamboo as a food source.
Kappi have taken great care to eliminate as much plastic and waste from their supply and logistics chain as possible. One of their main successes to date includes ensuring products come to them wrapped in recycled paper and reused newspaper rather than individually packaged in plastic bags. They then reuse this paper packaging as padding when they ship out their products to customers. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!
Their products are as durable as they are beautiful. They believe in providing customers with a product that will stand the test of time.
Kappi is incredibly proud to be a member of the 1% for the Planet global network.
