The team at Cloth and Co are dedicated to helping women in developing nations achieve financial independence through the development of traditional crafting techniques.

In countries where many women are trapped in cycles of poverty, the ability to utilise their skills and receive a fair share of the profits can be life-changing.

The Ombre Linen Scarf in Steel Blue is hand-loomed in a small village in West Bengal. These stunning pieces of art are created by a small group of eight young weavers, who have been trained in weaving, specifically for the production of these scarves.

Each scarf is made of 100% linen, made from flax - one of the world’s most ecologically-friendly natural fibres that is also completely recyclable and biodegradable.

Featuring hand-comb fringing, the scarf is then dyed to create a luxurious and eye-catching ombre effect. The result is a gorgeous, hypoallergenic piece that grows softer each time it’s worn.

Available in Steel Blue or Moss.

Values

ARTISAN
Cloth & Co.'s gorgeous linen scarves play an important role in their mission to preserve the artisan crafts.

They have been hand-loomed in a small village in West Bengal providing the opportunity for the next generation to continue the family tradition of weaving.

Cloth & Co. are currently providing ongoing work for 8 young weavers, who have been trained in weaving specifically for the production of their scarves and as they increase their orders, they will continue to provide opportunities for young weavers to learn these skills.

They think this is really special and they hope you do too.

SUSTAINABLE
Cloth & Co.'s products are timeless and designed to last. They believe one of the greatest impacts they can have is to ensure you can wear their pieces for years, not weeks. They source the highest quality materials that are 100% natural. Linen is made from flax, the stalk is cultivated for its fibre. Flax grows naturally and requires less water and fewer pesticides than most other natural fibres. Because flax is a natural fibre it is completely recyclable and biodegradable. Flax is gentle on the land and is easy to incorporate into modern crop rotations, preventing soil degradation.

ETHICAL
Cloth & Co. are passionate about making a difference and partner with women’s cooperatives, artisan communities and small ethical factories where people are treated with respect, working in dignified conditions and all stages in the production process are independently certified from farm to stitch. They provide skills training, sustainable employment and a living wage to all of their artisans.

Care

This is a beautiful handcrafted product so we ask that you care for it accordingly. Cloth & Co don’t use chemical detergents, they recommend a gentle wool wash. Please do not dry in direct sunlight.
