Aeschynanthus is a genus of approximately 150 species of epiphytic plants (they hang out in trees, occasionally on rocks), they belong to the family Gesneriaceae meaning they are related to the weird and wonderful Sinningia as well as African Violets and a bunch of other botanical oddities.

Aeschynanthus Bracteatus has a very upright habit compared to some of the other Aeschynanthus species. Its deep green and purple edged leaves are arranged in pairs on dark purple, hairy stems. They produce clusters of tubular flowers at the end of each stem. The flowers are, you guessed it, purple!

Delivered to your door in cleverly designed recyclable cardboard packaging.

About The Brand

There’s something blissful about filling your home with plants and greenery. Not only are house plants a bright spot of colour in the home, but they also improve mental health, giving us the opportunity to take a step back and smell the roses.

Greenhouse Co is dedicated to bringing the wilderness indoors with luscious plants in gorgeous ceramic pots. For Josh, the creator of Greenhouse Co and a horticulturist himself, having plants in your home is a great way to maintain a connection to nature, especially if you live in an apartment in the city.

Once you’ve chosen your perfect plant companion, it will be lovingly popped in a reusable plastic pot (so that it can be easily lifted out for watering and rehomed when it grows), wrapped in a calico bag, and tied into cleverly designed recyclable cardboard packaging that will help it stay upright on its journey.

NATURAL know...plants.

Sustainability and minimising waste are important to Greenhouse Co - which is why they have designed fully recycle-able, plastic-free packaging. Each plant is delivered in a reusable plastic pot (so that it can be easily lifted out for watering and rehomed when it grows) and recyclable packaging, including coir fibre (an already-recycled product that is 100% compostable) and calico bags.

Wait until the top few centimetres of potting media has dried out before watering heavily. These guys are a bit less drought tolerant than some of the other Aeschynanthus species and prefer to remain evenly moist during hot weather. Keep them a bit drier over winter.

Lots of bright indirect light and a humid position is great for these beauties! They are happy in a window that gets bright indirect light for only a short part of the day, making them perfect for those tricky spots in the house that only get good light for a little while. Low humidity will make the ends of the new leaves brown a little bit but this is nothing to worry about.

Their beautiful pendulous stems are about 40cm long but can eventually grow to a bit over a meter long making them an absolutely breathtaking feature plant if you have the space. After they have finished flowering cut the stems back reasonably hard to encourage prolific branching.
